Primary 6 Fundraising

This Lent we are saving money for S.C.I.A.F. by raffling two Easter eggs. One is a Galaxy egg and the other is a plain caramel egg. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday two children in my class go around the school selling raffle tickets for 10p each. After only a few weeks we had already made a considerable sum of money to send to S.C.I.A.F.

Primary 5 Fundraising

Primary 5B talked about people who lived in countries who owed money to other countries. We compared this to banks. The poor countries borrow money from the rich countries and have to pay back much more than they borrowed. It is as if the people have chains around them which causes them to remain poor. We made a debt chain in our classroom out of gummed paper strips. We donated 10p for a strip and wrote a phrase on them which reminded us of the debt of the poor. Some of these phrases were -

'break the chain'

'remember the poor'

'give peace to all'

We joined all the strips to make a long chain in our classroom to remind us of the poor.
