On Ash Wednesday we had a service. We sung hymns, listened to readings and got our ashes. Father Hand, Father Chris and Sister Angela were giving people their ashes.

The ashes are made of left over palms from palm Sunday and they are burned. The Priest blesses the ashes and makes the sign of the cross on your forehead, in ash and says, "Turn away from sin and be faithful to the Gospel ."

Then for the next six weeks you have to give up some things you enjoy like crisps or chocolate as a gesture to Jesus for what he did for us .

At the end of Lent it is Easter Sunday and we celebrate with chocolate eggs .
