Thus, on a <a name="pepper"></a><a name="where"></a>precise lot, various varieties of vegetables or fruits can be seen. </p> <p><a href="epiment.html" target="principal"><img src="images/piment.gif" width="30" height="25" x-sas-useimagewidth x-sas-useimageheight></a> <font size="2"><b><i>pepper</i></b></font></p> <p>2 - WHERE ARE THEY LOCATED ?</p> <p>In a general way, creole gardens are located on hillsides or other small pieces of land which are not used for cultures such as bananas or sugar-canes. This type of cultivation is "natural" or "ecological" because once plowed this garden doesn't meet any period of fallow. The farming techniques are developped according to cycles. Farmers never <a name="origine"></a><a name="gombos"></a>resort to the use of manure or pesticides. </p> <p><a href="egombo.html" target="principal"><img src="images/gombo.gif" width="100" height="45" x-sas-useimagewidth x-sas-useimageheight></a> <font size="2"><b><i>gombo</i></b></font></p> <p>3 - WHAT IS THE ORIGIN OF CREOLE GARDEN ? </p> <p>We do not know exactly its origin in the West Indies but we tend to think that the first creole gardens were born on the plots of land located near the negro cabins during slavery. After slavery, each inhabitant of the countryside kept on cultivating his creole garden. <a name="giraumon"></a> <a name="what in it"></a></p> <p><a href="egiraumo.html" target="principal"><img src="images/giromon.gif" x-sas-useimagewidth x-sas-useimageheight width="70" height="119"></a> <font size="2"><b><i>giraumon</i></b></font></p> <p>4 - WHAT DOES ONE FIND IN A CREOLE GARDEN ? </p> <p>In the creole garden, we cultivate vegetables and other tropical fruit of the West Indies. Thus on a same plot you can find sweet potato, dasheen, and other caribbean cabbages. We also find some condiments necessary to the local cooking: peppers, thyme, local onion.
