The last day of Christmas

We celebrate the last day of Christmas on 6th of January. In Iceland we call that day "Threttandinn". Almost everybody in town comes together at 8 o'clock by a mountain named "Ha".

On that mountain all the 13 Christmas elves lighten up their torches and lots of rachets lighten up the sky. Then all the elves come down from the mountain in a big row and Gryla, Leppaludi (their parents) and lots of trolls and imps join and everybody walks together to the sport's field.

A big bonfire is ligtened and now a lot of elves come and start to dance and sing around the fire. (This year some of the girls in 6th class will play the elves.

While the elves are dancing and singing, all the creatures (Gryla, Leppaludi, trolls and imps) walk around, say "Hi" to the people and tease the children. Some of the very young children belief they are real and are very afraid.

Before they stop singing and dancing, there is a very big rachet show and afterwards everybody goes home and many families have the last Christmas party together.
