Onions "confits" with grapes

For the christmas midnight supper

  • 1 kg of onions
  • 2 spoonfuls of salad-oil
  • a quarter of liter of Port
  • 2 dl of water
  • salt and pepper
  • 5 lumps of sugar
  • 100 g of grapes
  1. Peel the onions, let them fry slowly in the salad-oil
  2. When they have become a golden color, wet them with the Port and water; add the seasoning and the sugar
  3. Let it cook very slowly for an hour
  4. then add the grapes and carry on cooking for 30 minutes.

Advice : it's as good when it's cold, the day after.

Log or rolled cake

To prepare the scream :
Ingredients :

  • Milk: 0.5 liter
  • Flour: 60 g
  • Sugar: 75 g
  • eggs: 2

Boil the milk. In a salad bowl,mix the flour, the sugar, the eggs and milk. Put the mixture on the cooker. Pull out as soon as the mixing has boiled.

To prepare the pastry:
Ingredients:

  • Eggs: 8
  • Flour: 160 g
  • Sugar: 250 g
  • Vanilla

Put in a salad bowl the sugar, the vanilla and the egg yolks. Whisk to get a white mixture. Add the flour and the whisked eggwhites . Use a special cake tin (flat and rectangular). Bake the paste during a hour in the oven. Put the scream into the cake and roll it. You can recover it with melted chocolate. Put the cake in the fridge.
