The reza-baile (praying-dancing)

The "reza-baile" is carried out in the campaign of Santiago del Estero in execution of any promise to any saint, or as habit or tradition of family. It get ready a kind of  altar in the eaves of the ranch with the image of the saint. In the afternoon they pray and sing the joys or commendations corresponding to the devotion, then the musicians play a music as a gift  for the saint and for syndics and the dancing begins.
During the night, the dance is interrupted several times in order to pray and sing   until the sunrise. Generally, to midnight, they go in a procession by the proximities of the house. The people is invited to toast by the owners and they serve liquors.
In the last years the police authorities , to order of the ecclesiastical authorities,  permit only the wakes , suppressing (except by unusual and not justified exceptions) the "reza-baile"
